Historical Sites within St. Johns?

Do you know of a building or a home that has a secret past?

Do you know the history behind a business in our area?

Is there a historical site that you know of within St. Johns?

If so, we would love to hear from you. We are looking to start up summer walks that showcase the history of our neighbourhood and any input you would like to share would be appreciated and welcomed!

Feel free to leave any information on the blog or send us an email at stjohnsra@gmail.com.

Calling All Garenders...

...and those who want to be gardeners (like me!)

Saturday, June 2nd is the kick off for St. John's Residents Association's planting season. We are starting the day off at 10 a.m. at Machray Park (bordered by Anderson, Church, Andrews and Powers) to plant flowers in the large middle planter. [If you have extra seedlings you would like to donate, by all means bring them along!]

From there we will be moving to the Salter Street garden which is on the East side of Salter Street in the vacant lot between St. John's Avenue and Anderson Avenue. There the gardeners who have garden boxes at this site will be planting their seeds or plants. There will be 'professional' gardeners on site to answer any questions.

If you don't have a garden box, have no worries, there will also be a composting workshop going on! You can learn to compost, ask any questions about your current compost and get great tips. If you can't make it to this event, I will be posting all these tips on the blog after the event!

From this site we will then be moving onto Ralph Brown Community Centre for the gardeners at this site to do their planting!

Any questions, let me know! Look forward to seeing you there.
