Background: The Ma Mawi Wi Chi Itata Centre is currently seeking an individual for the positions of Cultural Advisor/Elder for three of their residential facilities. It is their goal that the incumbent will support positive change in youth through learning based principles of Aboriginal culture in a safe and supervised environment. Provide opportunities for improved self- esteem, self- sufficiency and social responsibilities through participation in activities and cultural programs. Provide opportunities for healthy fellowships/relationships among and youth.
Qualifications: Be able to establish relationships with residents build on a trust and genuine caring. Be able to provide teachings that are specific to the development of young women. Provide ceremonies to assist young women in their development i.e: sweat lodges, name giving ceremonies, making of woman ceremonies, sharing circles as determined by need, to create and maintain a safe environment for the young women.

We are a community volunteer group that is looking to build friendships, community ties, improve safety and relationships, beautify our neighbourhood and promote positive events. Our meetings are the 3rd Wednesday of each month at 7 PM in Win Gardner Place - 363 McGregor Street.
